Our Building Project

We are delighted that work on our building project has finally begun. This project was first conceived by my predecessor Ms. Susan Doody in 1998. She realised that structurally the oldest part of the school was in decline and would not be a suitable school building for the future. Plans were drawn up at that time to demolish this section of the school and to rebuild a modern two storey building. On assuming Principalship the delivery of this project became a very high priority for me and I am delighted to say that all of the hard work done by the Board of Management has finally come to fruition.

In November 2006 , after weeks of preparation, the old wing was finally knocked down . When the site was completely cleared work began on the foundations for the new wing.

In early March 2007 the concrete was poured in to the foundations and a week or so later the brick work began

The new building will house four new classrooms, two resource rooms, staffroom and toilets. A lift will also be installed to allow wheelchair accessibility to the whole school. The plans are currently on view in the front hall.
As with all building projects there will be a certain amount of disruption and inconvenience for the school community. The Board of Management, the Design Team and the Construction Company are working very closely to ensure the smooth running of the project. Needless to say we are relieved to bid "adieu" to our old leaking building. We look forward to moving in to our bright, modern new wing in the not too distant future. Watch this space for further updates of the building progress

Moving In !

On November 19th the building was ready for occupation. The 6th classes were busy helping the infant teachers move in to their bright new spacious rooms. The staff are delighted with their lovely new staff room overlooking the courtyard
