International Week

During the week May 28th - 31st we staged our first ever International week. Preparations were in full swing for a few weeks leading up to the event. Each class learned a selection of international songs and lots of art work was prepared for display around the school. Class groups had been busy learning about different countries, customs, traditions and cultures. There was a palpable air of excitement in Presentation Terenure when International Week was finally launched.

The week proved to be very busy and was packed with performances and special events. We had performances from Indian Bhangra dancers, African drum bands, tango dancers and a belly dancer. Lots of parents came in to share their experiences of other cultures. The children brought in hundreds of international artefacts and we had a Fun Quiz trying to guess the country of origin.
On Thursday May 31st we had our International Assembly. The children and staff dressed in international costumes and we gathered in the hall to sing and celebrate. Following the assembly we had our international food tasting session where the children were given the opportunity to taste foods from India, Italy, China, Sri-Lanka and many other countries.
